History of our School

 

Το 2ο Γυμνάσιο Χανίων βρίσκεται στην οδό Κοραή 1 απέναντι από το εθνικό στάδιο Χανίων, στο κέντρο της πόλης. Το σχολείο μας κτίστηκε στις αρχές του 20ου αιώνα επί Κυβέρνησης Βενιζέλου, όπως και τα δύο διπλανά σχολικά συγκροτήματα της οδού Κοραή.

The 2nd Gymnasium of Chania is located at 1 Korai Street opposite the Chania National Stadium, in the city center. Our school was built at the beginning of the 20th century during the Venizelos Government, as were the two adjacent school complexes on Korai Street.

Αρχικά το νεοϊδρυθέν 2ο Γυμνάσιο Χανίων συστεγάζεται στο σχολικό συγκρότημα του 1ου Γυμνασίου, όταν το σχολικό έτος 1923 - 24 αποκτά τη δική του ιδιόκτητη σχολική στέγη στον χώρο που λειτουργούσε το πρώην Μουσουλμανικό Γυμνάσιο.

Initially, the newly founded 2nd High School of Chania was co-located in the school complex of the 1st High School, when in the school year 1923 - 24 it acquired its own school roof in the area where the former Muslim High School operated
Σε ό,τι αφορά τη δεύτερη φάση της ιστορίας του σχολείου, αυτή ξεκινά από τις 23 Σεπτεμβρίου του 1949, όταν το Γυμνάσιο Χανίων διαιρείται και πάλι σε δύο «αυτοτελή και πλήρη γυμνάσια» και το 2ο Γυμνάσιο στεγάζεται στο ιστορικό κτήριο της οδού Κοραή 1. Από το 1949 έως το 1978 λειτούργησε ως 2ο Γυμνάσιο Αρρένων Χανίων. Από το 1978 - 79 και μετά λειτουργεί ως μικτό Γυμνάσιο Λύκειο και τότε πήρε την ονομασία: 2ο Γυμνάσιο Χανίων και 2ο Ενιαίο Λύκειο Χανίων. Εφόσον τα δύο σχολεία συστεγάζονταν, λειτουργούσαν σε πρωινή και απογευματινή βάρδια.

As for the second phase of the school's history, it begins on September 23, 1949, when the Chania High School is again divided into two "independent and complete high schools" and the 2nd High School is housed in the historic building at 1 Korai Street. From 1949 to 1978 it functioned as the 2nd High School for Boys of Chania. From 1978 - 79 onwards it operates as a mixed High School and then it took the name: 2nd High School of Chania and 2nd Unified High School of Chania. Since the two schools were co-located, they operated in morning and afternoon shifts.

Από το σχολικό έτος 2005-2006 το 2^ο Γυμνάσιο Χανίων λειτουργεί μόνο σε πρωινή βάρδια λόγω μεταφοράς του 2^ου Λυκείου σε άλλο σημείο της πόλης. Το σχολείο διαθέτει 12 Αίθουσες Διδασκαλίας, Εργαστήριο Φυσικής-Χημείας, Εργαστήριο Πληροφορικής & Αίθουσα Ξένων Γλωσσών. Το 2010 το κτίριο ανακαινίστηκε πλήρως σύμφωνα με τις σύγχρονες προδιαγραφές και έτσι σήμερα διαθέτει μέχρι και Διαδραστικούς Πίνακες.

Since the 2005-2006 school year, the 2nd High School of Chania operates only in the morning shift due to the transfer of the 2nd High School to another part of the city. The school has 12 Teaching Rooms, a Physics-Chemistry Laboratory, an Informatics Laboratory & a Foreign Language Room. In 2010, the building was completely renovated according to modern specifications and thus today it even has Interactive Boards.
